5 Mini-Moon Ideas for Michiganders

Short on vacation days or funds after the wedding? I totally get it. Here in Michigan, we're lucky to have some amazing, romantic destinations just a short drive away.

I'm sharing some of my favorites below, but I'd love to hear what destinations you would add to the list!

1. Mackinac Island

You can save significantly by staying in Mackinaw City and taking the ferry over to the island. Watching a sunset from the island is unbeatable - just make sure to catch the last ferry back!

2. Detroit

Stay at one of the casino hotels, the Detroit Foundation Hotel, or The Shinola for prime staycation vibes. Stroll hand-in-hand along the scenic riverfront, and consider a tour of The Whitney, the city's most iconic mansion.

3. Saugatuck

A weekend on the state's west coast makes for a charming escape. Your activity choices abound for a trip during any season, including wineries, art galleries, cross-country skiing, or relaxation at the beach.

4. Petoskey

You'll find plenty of romantic hotels, restaurants and activities in Petoskey. I recommend this trip in the fall to soak in the amazing colors!

5. Tawas

Tawas is perfect for a more low-key, relaxing trip. Rent a cottage on the shores of Lake Huron and turn your phone on "do not disturb" for best results!
