Ultimate Guide to Planning a Wedding Ceremony

Have you found yourself Googling "How do I plan a wedding ceremony?" You're not alone!

Personally, I think the ceremony is the most important part of the wedding day. The ceremony should not be an afterthought in the wedding planning process. Yes, there's a big party to get to, but the biggest purpose of the day is to get you married!

So here, I've outlined the key steps to planning your wedding ceremony, along with some tips to consider.

Signed & Sealed is here to assist you, from day one of planning through your walk down the aisle. So if you need some additional support, don't hesitate to reach out!

  1. Choose the perfect venue.

Choosing a ceremony space that is naturally beautiful will help cut down on decor costs. If the venue is outdoors, make sure to put together a backup plan in case of bad weather.

  2. Select an officiant.

You can opt to hire a professional officiant, or ask a family member or friend to perform your wedding ceremony. While the process to become ordained is straightforward, know that your family member or friend will likely need some assistance in writing your wedding ceremony if they've never done one before. Keep in mind, Signed & Sealed offers both officiating and ceremony writing services.

  3. Discuss vows.

Will you write your own personalized vows? Or use a more traditional script? If writing your own vows, decide on an approximate word count that you both can use as a guide.

  4. Select meaningful music.

Whether you will be playing recorded music through a speaker or hiring a live musician, give some thought to the songs you'd like to hear for the processional and recessional. Music can evoke memories and signify tradition. Don't forget to think about the logistics too - will your DJ be onsite to handle the ceremony, or do you need to make other arrangements?

  5. Who else will participate?

Consider asking any ushers, ring bearers, flower girls and readers several months in advance. And don't forget to discuss what these special participants should wear!

Let's get you married!
